Life Membership is awarded to someone who has given outstanding service of at least ten years to the Society by holding office and giving over and above that expected in the position held. The Gold Service Award is given to DSV Life Members who have given outstanding service for more than 20 years. The Silver Service Award is given for outstanding service to the dahlia. Holders are not necessarily members of the Society. The Dahl Medal is an award of the Dahlia Society of Australia. It is an award for outstanding contribution to the dahlia in Australia. Only five living persons can be holders of the medal at one time. DSV members who have received the award are Frances Grylls and Les Lawson.
