3 Sep 2026 6:47 PM | Anonymous

What is a Dahlia Trial Garden?

A Dahlia Trial Garden is where new, unnamed dahlia seedlings bred by hybridisers are grown and independently evaluated.

Submissions are now open. Breeders have the opportunity to have their varieties assessed at two separate locations within Australia. You may choose to enter at one or both locations — the choice is yours.

Canberra

A trial garden has been running in Canberra for some years and tubers can be sent to Graeme Davis (Graemecdavis@hotmail.com by 30 October 2026 along with attached completed form, as per normal. Further details are on the form.

Melbourne

Our trial garden at Cruden Farm, Langwarrin is now the home of the Victorian Trial Garden. For those wishing to have varieties trialled in Melbourne we ask that tubers and be sent to Pam Albutt (President@dahliasocietyofvictoria.com.au) by 16 October 2026, along with the completed form. Further details are on the form.
